That could never be. I bought my card in a full boxed set... How could it be a dell oem version? Even the picture on the box is the same card, so that rules out swapping cards by dealers.. I don't think this is a dell car, or at least i hope not.. If it is then creative is cheating. How can they sell an oem card, which has been downgraded, nicely boxed up potraying a SB Live Digital 5.1 card?
I'm afraid the answer to that my friend, only Creative knows. Looks like that SPDIF_IO is currently not supported by Creative.. Yet. So what do you do, stand around like a geek waiting for Creative to make hardware that uses it? How lame. And I've used creative since 1995
I think that connector is supported. Take a look at the volume setting. There is one tab for spdif in. This could not be cd spdif in as there is another tab for that.
You should call 1(405) 742-6655. But the only reason I called, my cell phone has free long distance. And on my plan, I can talk 30 min every week day and not pay more.
not so, OEM cards are just typically sold in bulk to companies like Dell and HP en mass without any fancy packaging like you get in retail versions. people like us buy OEM versions simply because we dont really need all the fancy Retail packaging, we just want the card. the lady just used Dell as an example .... thus its not a Dell specific card. As i said i've had my version of this card for at least a year now. I still beleive that they should allow access on request to technical information about their pin outs and why they won't let you seems to be arrogance. Hmmmm where abouts are you guys from? are you Both UK? if not i can have a try from here to get the details?
I'm in California, USA. And when I was reading his post to the agent on the phone from Creative, I said SBLive D.E. and she said it was custom made for Dell. In which case, it might be lacking components a Creative card would have.. But I just imagine it was an excuse to get me to hang up.
ahhh sorry i thaught you were refering to Kryptons post not from your own conversation. I'll see if i can find anything out from this part of the world
i attacked the creative UK website from this end (by attacked i do not mean hacked etc) and i found this is this what your after? if you've got any problems with the files etc i can have a go at sending them to you etc, i had a brows doing what it said and i found a load of pinout info hope this helps *edit*cant see anything on SPDIF_IO , but it looks promising so i'll chase it up with the UK technical support department
hmmm ok, goto creative.com goto the select region menu on the right, select UK, in the middle at the bottom of the page is a link to technical support, use that, then go into knowlege bas and run the search 'Live! pin' -- it should be the second link found
edit I did find this site. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread/t-6262.html Hope it helps. The SB Live! card has a Digital Out: The SB Live! has an S/PDIF output on the daughter card - which connects with a 75 Ohm coaxial cable to an AC3 decoder. The SB Live! Platinum and SB Live! Player 1024 have a digital out (yellow 3.5mm mini jack connector ) - connect with a standard cable which converts the 3.5mm stereo to left/right RCA. Connect the left (white) connector which carries the AC3 stream to the AC3 decoder. The right (red) cable carries no signal. There is an upgrade card with digital out available for the SB Live! Value from the Creative Online Store. This is the Optical Digital I/O Card 2 From http://dmzweb3.europe.creative.com/htmlhelp/audio/sblive/sblive_ac3dd12.htm
First: check each pin - where it goes (You should be expect GND, +5V and sone undefined lines) Second: use multimeter. Check the voltage on each pin. (in this step you can verify Your first "research") I think that 2 or 1 of them will offer undefined voltage That unknown signals may be a SPDIF signals (probably in TTL mode) If my calcullation are correct, you will need a red LED with 150 Ohm resistor connected between GND and one of this unnamed pin. The LED must be plugged into DIGITAL INPUT of Your receiver. This way is not simple ...byt it works. I have a SB 1024 with this same pseudo-optical SPDIF Cable for 3 years. Greetings Tom Sorry for my english.
I do not know what the pinouts are, but i go know this The five pins consist of: spdif_in (spdif signal in) spdif_out (spdif signal out) gnd (ground for spdif in/out) vcc (power to supply to optical modules) gpio (seriously, don't know what this does) That's all i have.. Need to continue my search. P.S: I'm in Malaysia..
well i got this responce Dear Sir/Madam Thanks for the email! Did your product came in a retail box?( if it is, then read on, if not, it is an OEM and we will be unable to proceed further as Creative Labs is not made aware of these changes of OEM products) Or did it came shrink wrapped? I will escalade this to the advance team but I offer no guarantees they can disclose anything about this. I hope you understand. I will need to know the exact model number of your card. To find this number, you will need to remove the card from the system. The model number will be on the same side of the card as the components. It is generally in the same corner of the card as the company logo and will begin with an ES, CT or SB and be followed by four numbers.( I guess is the same as the one you have) I also need to know the ink stamp number, if any. This number is on the opposite site of the card as the model number and is usually blue or black ink printed directly to the deck of the card. This number will not be on any sticker of any kind. I also need the serial number of your card. It should be on the same side of the card as the ink stamp. This number is printed on a sticker. Please do not hesitate to get back to me so I may assist you further. Thank you! Please retain all the previous correspondence when replying to this email. Best Regards Andy Teyu Technical Support Creative Labs Europe My card was OEM and is over a year old so do you think you would be able to supply me with the details of your card _krypton and i'll try taking it further? Thanks
Circuit shoud look like this ```````````````````150 Ohm ````````LED SPDIF_OUT-------------[]--------------|>------GND If spdif out is "TTL" LED will be light. As i said before You can put the LED into optical input of your DD/dts amplifier. Remember: activate digital output in SB, and choose right input in Your amplifier. If it works You can start thinkin about "professional" optical output to Your coputer based on TOTX transmiter. Tomek
Sorry for the late reply! My adsl got crazy yesterday.. Here are the details: Model: SB0220 (Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital) Serial No: M1SB0224415001876Q Ink Stamp No: 241MN414A Card is manufactured in Malaysia
It should be correct.. It's just that i don't know whats where... I don't know the pin arrangements...
I got a reply asking me if it came in a box, i said it did. so it's gone back to creative. This Andy guy seems to be rather helpful and like creative say its taking him a day to get back to me at a time. hopefully by tomorrow i'll have a reply. I'll post if i get anything
