Looks a bit messy to me but it does look better matt than glossy. He should have used spray paint in my opinion.

I saw this yesterday from over at Kotaku. The comments in that thread are funny as hell as everyone seems to think his DS is going to be borked. Personally, I think it looks sick as hell with the matte finish.

Paint chips and scratches after a while. This will hold up to the wear and tear much better ;)

Saw this on DCemu a few days ago...it's not too bad, but could be better.

I would've just waited for the replacement shells to become available.

(slightly OT, but I'm pretty certain I'll be buying a ProjectShock shell - who should I contact about possibly doing a mini-review for Bit-Tech? Thought it would be useful for fellow DS Lite users looking to mod their system [and a good follow up to the PSP article Wil posted a few months back]).

A nice idea, the end result does look good.

I would be tempted to try a sand blaster with really fine sand though, you get the same result but no scratches and a more even finish, plus it gets into all the unreachable parts. You could mask off the text on the back too!

i'd have taken the shell off and then done it.. it looks a bit silly how the logo is still shiny on the inside... and the edges...

i think, it could have looked good, but this is a rush job and therefore, doesn't.

Can't work out wether its a black system or a chromed system.....?

Either way it does look pretty cool. But I agree that the logo looks a little out of whack with the rest of it...... think is, if his system farks up now, he can't take that back cos the warranty is surey voided!
