search no working?

    is it just me or is the search and 'view new posts' etc not working, i get a access denied thing :confused: :duh:

    Apologies, the forums should have given you a polite message from myself, but it seems yet another thing that doesn't work on vBulletin. :rolleyes:

    I disabled it temporarily (~24 hours) whilst we have a high number of guests generating load -- search is one of vBulletin's worst functions for server load - and after I managed to topple the server for 2 mins, i decided to disable it for now :)

    Meh. :blah:

    I thought it already was enabled for registered users only.....

    what I think the issuse rtt is trying to tell us is that the search is wasting bandwidth so since we have an influx of guest he took it off line to help save a bit of bandwidth

    Lots of guests? I'm guessing it's the Orac 3 article generating so much traffic?

    Not just saving transfer* but also, as he said, to reduce server load. ie, cpu stress. :)

    When you're serving up a high count of pages, and then several people are all searching, it generates 'nuff overhead.
