Boy does this game make you think, my first town lasted about 15 mins before I was bust. Very enjoyable, when I get the hang of it I will then give multiplayer ago With this and end game I just wont have a social life
So you want to call yourself a hipster? Surely thats too mainstream for you? The irony in all this is all you've done is insult people, then when you feel insulted you get really offended.
In case anyone doesn't remember these: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/...ve-worst-pc-game-launches-that-arent-simcity/ --------------- Otherwise, this whole debacle is BS. EA now offering a free game? What's the bet you will be limited to only a few titles, all old, that you more than likely already own.
Haha, that's the 2nd person in a matter of weeks who's gone from seemingly normal to hilariously angry and left. I'm still hoping I'll be able to pick this game up since it really does look rather good...
...And you've completely missed the point I'm making. Instead of SimCity discussion it descended into the usual rhetoric of not liking EA games. Should we derail a discussion thread on a game? No. Take it elsewhere; I'm quite happy to listen to the evils of EA and how we should be supporting indie and alternative titles, but it should be on its own. Anyway, have a little holiday - if you want to come back and behave like an adult then feel free, otherwise don't bother.
Fired the game up for 20 mins and it's so pretty <3 Going to try and join one of the Bit-tech neighbourhoods, which one should I join?
Yeah that's cool. The only issue is that we have to be online at the same time to send the invite out. I will try and have origin running from about 7 onward. Origin name is: LanceW
there is a bunch of us playing on europe west 1 but that is often full, if I can't get on tonight I might also join Lance's game
Yeah, inviting is tricky as people need to be online! My game is running, so I'll invite people as you appear on EU West 4. I'm currently going gambling/tourist route.
Great times! It works on my work PC (apart from my friends list for some reason). I'll just have to see if its worked when I get home. I've started a second city in the region as my old one was a bit stagnated, and the region needed some other production towards production etc. I will send Mr Monkey, Sotu1 and Parge an invite asap. And with 2 cities each per region I think that means I have space for 1 more each. With decent cities already running in the region I managed to get to around 30,000 pop in about 45 minutes, with my first coal mine and ore mine starting to run production. I've gone for another island on the region so that if anyone starts on there are 2-3 spots that I can send trucks etc to (discovered the other night that you can't send police cars, trucks etc over areas that don't have a highway link i.e between islands, this includes fire helicopters).
I think im finding a few more bugs in the game. So far my in game clock keeps stopping (happened 3 times), ive been locked to normal speed (happened 2 times) and my fire and police helicopters keep getting stuck on buildings. Its starting to piss me off because I keep having to restart my pc because SimCity wont open again after being closed until I restart.
Really enjoying SimCity5, only experienced one dodgy connection issue, when Europe West 4 became full. This game really takes off in regional play, with a few friends in a region, where you can all claim a plot and then have enough space to claim a second each once you fill your boots. The game is clearly designed with shared service provision in mind. If one person unlocks a civic, it becomes available for the others after a delay of a few in game hours. I created a gambling city, with a secondary ore mining industry. It was great to begin with, but drew a lot of criminals, which then spread via the trains and road networks to my friends other cities! So I agreed to take responsibility for the whole regions policing (you should see my decked out police HQ lol!) but I needed them for Fire and Waste services. At one point, my only Casino was raking in 20k an hour!!! Which incidentally is still not as good as making CPUs from the tech plant (fed from the recycling plant), at an amazing 69k per 1000 units sold! The cool thing about CPU sales, is that, unlike gambling, is does not bring the associated Crime and Crime prevention costs. It is also useful that recycling is a by-product of normal waste, so you are just harvesting existing materials to make a product that makes you so much money when sold on the global market. I’m sure I will be raging the moment I can’t connect or lose a city somewhere in the cloud....
I think that my main successful city might benefit from that. I have the factory built, and I think that I can get a recycling plan without too much issues from my residents, especially as some of the rich ones want recycling anyway. That would be the cash injection that city needs.
I spent a fair bit of my time yesterday trying to put out fires caused by the arsonists coming from barny's city. hopefully I should be able to expand my metal production and begin contributing more towards the construction of our great work.
Egh I really wish there was the ability to put directional flow on the roads (no right turn/left turn/one way, etc), that would literally make all my problems go away... my main issue is I can't get delivery trucks into my city fast enough through its single road connection, its just always so packed!
