WOW I didn't think I would get the free game since I got SimCity from Origin India but this morning when I start up Origin it pops up to get my free game. Not bad for £18 I just hope ME3 come with the DLC if not that's going to cost.
I also got mine cheap from India, i have also got a free game so very happy this morning What game to choose though ?
I was hoping I could get another copy of battlefield for a friend. But it appears that you just pick and it goes straight into your library. Think I'm going to get medal of honour or need for speed. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Damn I have BF3, Mass effect 3, Plants Vs Zombies, Simcity 4..... I suck at racing games and MOHW looks crap Asked for deadspace 3 for my birthday (which is tomorrow) so will go for that if I don't get it. Was just wishful thinking that tomb raider or Crysis 3 would be on the list :/
I caved and bought SimCity yesterday; this was at about 7:30pm, and it was 11pm before I realised what was happening. Damn good fun so far, but it seems a bit...easy... I was just going crazy with it though, without any real thought or planning behind it; I'm going to wipe/abandon my region and start again, I think. The city sizes do feel somewhat small - I got to 17k population and was running out of room - but I guess you really need to specialise and utilise the regions: have one city as a massive industrial hub, have another as a residential/commercial hub, etc... Quite chuffed to see that I also get the free game, but I'm really not interested in any of the games on offer!! I'll probably take BF3...
Parks. You need them. Bigger roads. You need them. I have about 2/3rd of the room used for residential, and i am around 150k population.
Parks, I had them; bigger roads, I had them! I got up to medium density/medium wealth (though the roads in medium wealth areas were high density) and low density/high wealth areas, but there was ever increasing demand for low wealth residential and industrial (which, sort of feed each other). I really didn't care too much if I'm honest; it was more of an exercise in getting used to the gameplay mechanics and interface, so I gave little thought to it. I'll start another region and plan things a lot better.
Then you either had to wait a bit more (on other side i had ~100k population in 2-3 hours) or the residential buildings didn't had enough space to expand.
Is this the RCI bar chart demands? Following that doesn't always help you're better off looking at the population details to see unemployment/unfilled jobs and go by that.
Having played for 55 hours now and done a fair few cities, recently I have worked hard to strictly control the expansion of residential and industrial zones. Making a great effort to ensure I don't have too many unfulfilled job. I also zone in such a way to try and prevent the "residential sprawl" if you will, preferring instead to increase population though controlled density increases. If you expand population too fast, I find the sudden and expensive requirement to upgrade multiple services at the same time becomes massively expensive. Unfortunately, high population combined with traffic and other pathing bugs can make very large population cities very hard to manage. Edit: also a useful tip is to have about 15-20% commercial on every residential block, it increases happiness a fair amount, and when combined with parks will ensure their happiness bark is full, allowing upgrading to bigger accommodation once you upgrade a road. I also tend to have dedicated low, med and high wealth residential zones, with wither their own 20% commercial and appropriate parks.
Seems to be a lot of love for NFS here... it's a tossup between that and BF3 at the moment... Nail on the head, there.
