    Hello,

I have this problem 2 days so far. But it is very annoying and "harmful". When I connect to Skype (when my all contacts are being shown), a computer suddenly stops working (I mean all programs are so lagged that nothing can be done) and when I turn off Skype, all programs are working properly again...

Please suggest ALL the available options which could fix this problem. Please.

P.S. Useless answers : "restart Windows" and "Re-install Skype".

    Thank you.

    God, alio?..

    If you need spec:

    RAM: 512 Mb
    Service Pack: 3
    System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Processor: 1.99 GHz
    Video Card: ATI Radeon Xpress1150

I cleaned up - cleaned incorrent or useless registries, some programs and files. But then it was working.

Also, Skype is the only program which is not working properly.

put some more memory in machine, 512MB is absolute minimum for winxp sp3

It's the RAM. If not then your processor could be the culprit, but it depends on what kind. 1.99Ghz could be an AM2 processor a Celeron.

    But earlier Skype worked perfect.

Even I tried with totally new account with no cantacts. And then worked... Could be the contacts (too many of them) reason?

If it IS because there are too many contacts, which I doubt, then I suppose more contacts=more load on your PC, and with relatively low specs like yours could be the problem..

Have a look in task manager at your ram usage under the performance tab, before and after loading up skype, to see how much ram is being used. If it is pretty high, then yes, it's time to upgrade your ram

Disable unnecessary background applications as well, there's bound to be little headroom in terms of reaching the threshold of your 512MB of RAM.

Other than that, getting a bit more memory should be cheap.

What a nonsense is showing in task manager. It shows "Skype.exe 44.570 K", but even Mozilla takes at least three times more and almost no lag.
And when you said to look at ram usage, as I was saying, everything is totally stopped, except mouse. Then I have to wait 1 minute till I enable Task Manager and another one till I end Skype process.

I tired that too. Well, except in Safe Mode. I'll try that too soon.

But earlier I had over 150 and no lag. Now even 7 super lags.
