Because there is no WTF tab this goes under the general category. I heard this story today off a freind, and apparantly this actually happened. so this girls parents had a python all her life and it got to be pretty big, 6 foot - as pythons do of course. So they had this python, but her parents died so she naturally inherited the snake which was living in a glass case without a lid. One day though it stopped eating, and after a few weeks of it not eating she went to the vet to see what was up - but the snake specialist was on holiday for the next 2 weeks (they exist at vets, this was in australia). SO for the next 2 weeks this goes on - the snake doesnt eat a thing. On the day she is due to see the vet she wakes up and the snake is lying next to her, stretched fully out and rigid - but still very much alive. So she goes to the vet in the day and the snake specialist see's her and she tells him everything, including where it was in the morning. The snake specialist says... "holy ****, get rid of it, get rid of it NOW!" She says "OK... But why?" He replies... "you have to get rid of it! Its been starving itself, and this morning it was measuring you up... it intends to eat you!" If the specialist had been on holiday for 2 more days... it would have eaten her. :O
The question I'm asking is WTF would anyone want a python as a pet? I certainly wouldn't want a snake; especially not a boa or python.
Pics or it's not true There are stories of larger pythons taking adult girls but the one linked turned out to be a one-eyed trouser snake. A 6' python is a baby, and planning the next meal weeks in advance, to the extent of refusing other food, doesn't grab my credibility bone. However, pet snakes are not kittens.
I remember reading once that a large python tried to kill a lady, but her husband ( the owner of the snake ) repeatedly stabbed said snake till it released its grip and subsequently died. Shame cus the owner loved the snake and cared for it, and when it came down to it, he had to be the one to kill it to save his other love. I didnt think a python would measure up its meal mind, i thought they would just try and eat it!
