It was in a book... If I have the time I could sometimes scan it. Crossfeed a kind of simulator of a speaker-kind-of-sound to headphones. It mixes the two channels together (only some, and also different amounts on different frequencies) and adds a slight time delay so the music sounds more natural. headroom.headphone.com tells you more. This version is adjustable so the amount of mixing can be adjusted to different kinds of music and/or situations.
Cool! I'm into audios tuff too, just I know very little about it! Have you ever seen this site? It's got tons of info on DIY headphone amps.
Actually, yes! Lots of stuff to make The only problem is that most of the amps do ot have the crossfeed processing. I'm hooked and there's no way around it.
As much as you can see on the photo! Basically not a lot. There are simple add-on cossfeeds available on the net. I think Cmoy has a design for it also (can be found on the link above)? I'm using Sennheiser hd600's.
Names... Well you said that this beast needs a name, and by the looks of it, what a beast it shall be! Here are a few quick suggestions that I just came up with: Audio Tomb Amplified Silence Audio Dragon Audio Forge Audio Menace Audio Exploit Torrent Well I dont know if any please your tastes but its worth a shot. Im keeping my eyes on this thread. I'll prolly post more names when I have time.
"Amplified Silence" ^meh likey! CMoy is simply THE MAN, I want to make his small amplifier (the one with the 9v battery) I think i'll go take a look at CMoys projects and try and find his crossfeeder.
Cool names, dude! I like the "Amplified Silence" although it's more like an explanation, and not an actal name. I think the audio part is not the part I want to emphasize on the name. Maybe more towards the silence (at least I hope so), the two parts and the design style. I'm drinking my morning coffee and in a while:
Some links for ya: index of projects Chu Moy Amp Chu Moy Crossfeed Lindesberg Amp w. Crossfeed Take your pick!
Good links! I tihkn i'll build the CMoy crossfeeder, the Lindesberg one is scary. Large graphs and schematics scare Altron. Altron want easy PCB layout. Audiologica (my new favourite web site) has a modified CMoy crossfeeder, I prefer Audiologica over Headwize because I don't understand much of that audio theory (although I do want to learn, I went to the library and got some books on audio as well as electronics), I just want easy to udnerstand explanations and layouts for now.
Oh so slow.... Frame ready and a pile of steel plates ready to be bent!: I was surprised how small this case actually is going to be. And how heavy.... I'm not sure if one man can carry this Not a lan case or what do you think? And a fun idea I got. I have no window, but I DO have an unused webcam
Interesting idea If you mounted a LCD on the side of the case and have the webcam in it as a fake window... then you have too much money... send the LCD to meh...
A fun idea but I'm waaay over budget already. I think with all the steel, Bulgin switches, headamp and plexi and... the cost is already over 300€ And I just learned that the chamfered corners are impossible to make in the workshop I have access to. So I'm preparing for 50+€ more to get it done professionally. More pictures coming up in the evening (or tomorrow if i'm too tired).
I was never sure Firewire and/or ATA were measured im mega Bits or Bytes. These were 2 device adaptors. 50 Bux a pop.
wow, im very interested in how this is gonna turn out, what kind of steel plating are you using, i was thinking about making a case out of that cross hatch steel good work
The frame is made of 10x10mm square-tube, and the plating is 1.5mm steel. Nothing fancy, but plain old heavy metal. The frame and all the inner plating is done now, but I forgot to take my camera with me to the worksop So update with pictures is coming up sometimes in the beginning of next week.
Man...just from the CAD-like pics this looks like it has the ability to be one amazing mod. You'll have to weigh it when finished...I think all that steel will prolly make it pretty beefy. Make sure you add some handles if you plan on moving it...at all. =)
