So I was doing a random search on Google about Space Hulk and came across this: Official website I shall be watching closely!
Saw this on RPS a few weeks back and almost all the comments were about the rapid firing .50 cal-esque gun effects for the bolter weapons I have to agree with them to an extent, they are meant to fire what are essentially a minature rocket that explodes. One of the main reasons the Assault Cannon was so damn powerful in 2nd edition 40K was due to the fact that pretty much had the same stats as a Krak missile launcher, but it had sustained fire! Been playing a few games of the tabletop version again recently (managed to pick up one of the limited edition re-releases) and fecking hell.... the fear... the fear that those blips instil in you as they close the distance. I do find it funny though that they show terminators winning in hand to hand combat... generally you're mince meat as soon as that happens unless you get some incredibly lucky rolls. Still, a faithful rendition of the tabletop game with good atmosphere would be nice. Last good one I played was a flash version which had all of the Blood Angel, Space Wolf and Deathwing campaigns ported over perfectly.
Why do all the Tyranids appear to have their eyes on the front of their heads? They're supposed to be on the side. Makes them look stupid with them forward facing. Still, it's Warhammer and FPS, so yes please!
Holy thread resurrection! Yup, looking good! I want to be a thunder hammer, assault cannon wielding librarian!
Now up for pre-order on Steam (currently releasing Nov 2016). Preordered because I refuse to learn from past experience. Mind you, 15% off...
I would love for Cd Projekt Red to get the licence to do an RPG based on the Cypher character. That would be a dream come true personally.
Oh man.. I think I'll grab one as well Will there be a box version? I remember paying old Space Hulk gaes ago, when was a kid, on my 386 PC Do you guys remember this? EDIT: oh man.. I got so excited that I went on ebay and ordered the old version on 4 floppy discs!
@phinix: seeing the old EA logo at the beginning of this: ...always makes me shed a little nostalgic tear.
Who needs guns when you can use your shield to charge up to an enemy, then dispatch it with what is essentially a small earthquake generator?!
Well, I've been avoiding reviews, but word on the grapevine is that it's a little disappointing. Not Colonial Marines disappointing, but just a bit 'meh'. I'm hoping my nostalgia and the thought of stomping around in tactical dreadnought armour will see me through.
I watched this on Twitch which it exploded onto a week or so ago and it looks absolutely awful. The person I watched didn't really look like he was having fun and the whole game just looked like a slow meaningless WH themed slog through some corridors. The sound effects for the bolter are piss poor. None of the Space Hulk mechanics seem to have made it through to the game. The corridors were all wide and accommodating for the bulky space marines, ruining any feeling that solid movement and tactical play were necessary. The game pretty much had zero tension. The space marines would just walk around holding LMB on most things that moved without any threat. All firing wherever they wanted, no assignment of responsibility. Even when the stealers got up close and personal to the SMs they went down like cardboard cutouts. Looks overwhelmingly bad.
