so the idea is to make a part of the stargate in 1:1 relationship for the real thing

materials would be wood / mdf and so on

some of the work is allready done
some of it is in planning

    i have got some pic's
    will post 'em later

    comments ?

Hmm... How bout' making a base for the portal (something like this http://www.vargr.com/pages/renders/images/StarGate.jpg), and stuff the hardware down there, then you can make like a 1:10 scale of the whole portal on top. Fill it with some LED's or CCFL's and you be on and poppin':)

A full sized Stargate would be approx 20ft (6m+) diameter.

We had a half-scale one at some Stargate conventions I worked at a few years ago.

    crappy pic here

a full size stargate would be 4.52m the outside diameter
and 3.5m from the inside dimentsion
the gate itself shoud be 0.5m thick

    http://www.estonia.ca/~v2hja/how_this_info_was_obtained.jpg
and she is about 1.76m tall ....... and she ise quite next to the gate ^^

now back to the drawingboard :D
    calculating materials needed next

    http://www.estonia.ca/~v2hja/tray_2.jpg
next step would be mdf plate for this mobo tray

btw Goth kle jah kunagi peab ju kah ise selle lolluse ära tegema

    EDIT:

    frame vs. mobo tray

Question: Is the outer plating going to be curved, like a 'pie-slice' outta the gate? I'm only asking cuz the frame looks completely straight.

    Nice idea you got there.
But one advice: No links, post the pics. It might piss off a mod. :)
