Hmm I was afraid of this, it looks very good and it works, I'm now 75% sure that it will will be a worthy replacement for my old and tired Tosh.

You mentioned about the keychain access not working. To enable it, you need to go into the Keychain program (Applications>Utilities>Kychain Access), select the item that you want it to remember, and then click "Allways allow access to this item" in the 'Access Control' tab:

    Hope that helps!

**Edit: Oh yeah, go get Camino for your internet browser, safari is crap. Camino is the Firefox for macs (http://mozilla.org)

You're not? Damn! - I must be more Evil in future... ;)

Just listen to those voices in your head :thumb:

Hey Soda - Thanks for the tip - I'll try it out when I get back from work. Although since the latest OS update, It hasn't complained or asked for login at all - so I assume that this must be set.

I don't care if it is a Mac or not that is the best looking laptop I have ever seen! :eeek:

Apple certainly have got the edge over the competition with style.

they do look very nice, but theres a couple of things i dont like about them besides the OS (i cant stand OSX :p)
the keyboard, i dont understand why they squish it up between the speakers
move the speakers down and make the keyboard bigger fools! :duh: :p
and the trackpad, unless they'v echanged it since i last had to use a powerbook, is horrible to use :(

edit: with the share mounting thing, can you not just setup a shellscript (or applescript i think apple call it) to mount them on boot? thats what i do on my gentoo lappy :)

hehhee, the reason is that the 12", 15" and 17" `books all use the same keyboard, but it does look stupid on the 15 and 17's :wallbash:

Oh yeah, GOO, i'm still on 10.2.8, so i dont know whats changed in panther :(

/me tries applescript, never used it before

I've been dying for a PowerBook. The same one you've gotten is what I want (but may have to just get what I get and upgrade later). Maybe this summer, but probably not :sigh:.
The problem is I don't have that kind of money and my parents have to buy it for me. Maybe it can be a gift for passing this year :p.

Q: How exactly do you get to all the applications in OS X? Is it in the menu that pops up from the apple logo?

Watch out for the adapter from adc (apple standard) to dvi (or vga). They are rather expensive at minimum $90.

Rumors are that new displays are not far off with radical change in design to match the g5 and built in firewire. Most importantly though, they are rumored to change to use dvi so will work on any graphics card....with dvi.

No - all the installed apps are found in the application folder in the finder, usually residing in some very nice folders that have their own custom icons - for example, Adobe Illustrator's folder is still a folder icon, but the folder itself has a picture of the Adobe Girl on it.

To speed up access, I've dragged my 'most used' apps into the dock. I assume you could also create aliases and stick them on the desktop as well, but I haven't done that yet.
