Has onyone had the pleasure of setting up TACACS+ (tac_plus) using Slackware? I've been beating my head on the desk for way too many hours now trying to sort it out. Not even for local logins..that'd be next..but right now just for user auth to my routers/switches.

Test Environment - SL8.1 box (pam library installed),
    TACACS+ - tacppd-0.0.6 using passwd file
    Router - Cisco 2516

watching the tac_acc.log on the server and monitoring the debug tacacs ont he router.

They are talking... prompts for a username/password. But the log shows a PASS reponse but the router reports a failure..but still allows entrance...weird (and only works for a valid username/passwd) but when you shoot to get to enable mode continuous failures :sigh:

before i starting dragging out a sniffer, then having to span ports on the switch, and all that hassle I'm hoping someone else here has already beaten on this and found an easy resolution.

    thanks...
