Just a quick question. I see a lot of people using Tapatalk on Nexus 7s and other tablets to post in the forums both here and elsewhere.

Why do people do this? As far as I can tell, most forums are 95% compatible with tablet browsers (rep can be a pain but it's still do-able), so I just browse and post in the native forums rather than relying on a third party app.

Is there something I'm missing? As far as I can tell using Tapatalk actually removes some of the functionality of the forums and doesn't really add much on tablets - smartphones I can understand. Losing signatures is one of the things I really noticed when I had a play around with it.

    Am I doing it wrong?

Agreed I don't use Tapatalk on the phone or the nexus as far as I can see Tapatalk is a POS

    Its nice because:

    a) You can just see participated threads.

    b) Its quite fluid, and finger friendly.

However: Please remove the "sent via tapatalk via by penis" nonsense.

It may be faster on slower tablets, but on the Nexus 7 the forums are as fluid as on a desktop.

Also if you have your Default Thread Subscription Mode set to "no email notification" then all your participated threads are shown by default when you click into your User CP. That's my default forum start page.

Also, ad blockers are available on Android browsers. Some would argue essential...

I like it how tapatalk sends you device notifications rather than using email replies to your subscribed threads (which you can then just pull down and 1 click to return directly to that thread).

That's the first tangible benefit I've come across, although I'm on the forum regularly enough not to need notifications any more.

What is this magic you speak of?

I have never subscribed to a single thread :D and for the most part, I forget which threads I have written in.

It's easier for me with different forums accounts that all support the app. Nice convenient place to access my post visited forums :) I use it on my nexus 7

    1. Click on User CP.
    2. In the Settings & Options section on the left, click on Edit Options.
    3. In the fourth box down (Default Thread Subscription Mode), use the drop-down box to make your selection. I don't recommend instant email notification unless you like deleting emails a lot.
    4. Scroll to the bottom and Save Changes.

Now every time you post in t a thread it will appear in your User CP, green if there are new posts since you last visited and blue if not.

Never miss a reply again. Happy days!
