I´m just finished of modding my psu and wondering on how i van test it... I dont want to mess up my new MB if I have done anything wrong with it. I dont want to end up in the "disaster mod" area. Somebody have any suggestions
Plug it into an old mobo? Without load on its rails any readout you take won't be stable or true to real world voltages.
Big fat resistors, each connected between black & yellow wires (for +12V), black & red (+5.0V), black & orange (+3.3V), black & blue (-12V), black & white (-5.0V, not found in some PSUs), and black & purple (+5.0V standby). Amps = Volts/Ohms Watts = Volts^2/Ohms Be sure that the watt rating of each resistor is at least double its calculated watts or it'll melt something.
What did you mod? Change the voltages or something? [edit] Here's a link for you... http://www.dansdata.com/quickshot018.htm
No nothing that advanced, just shortened some cables or lengthening them.. It shouldnt be any problems but I wanna test it anyway...
plug in an old cd drive and/or some fans, then connect a paperclip between the green wire and a black wire on the motherboard connector. or for more detailed testing buy on of these: http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1705.html
