OK boys and girls We are going to be running some awards at the end of this year to give out to our favourites manufacturers, based around their performance this year. We will begoing for the obvious ones such as favourite graphics manufacturer, best product of the year etc but we are looking for a few that will be a bit ' different '. I'm not really going to be clearer than that (except that they should be in the spirit of bit-tech), since I want your imaginations to run a bit wild! I can't reveal what the prize is (yet!) but it will be a good one! So, get posting away with your suggestions for awards EDIT : Just to emphasise, I want you to suggest categories for awards, not the products you think you should get them - that comes later!!
i would say the abit nf7-s motherboard, thats been a consistant performer for many peeps on the board
Sorry - just to emphasise, I want you to suggest categories for awards, not the products you think you should get them - that comes later!!
Award for the most stable Performing motherboard Split it into AMD and P4 same catagries go to the CPUs also Most stable ram when overclocked Award for the cheapest reasonable PSU Best PSU on the market Award for the best LCD/TFT same again but for CRT Most moddable Case Most desirable standard case Award for the best new piece of hardware this year most desirable pre made system [alienware, dell, hp etc....] Pre Mode award for the best premode case Best graphics card hows that
How about most overclockable cpu? Or best cpu for your money? Best tech advancement of the year? most innovative product....?
How about... Most useless product? Best portable MP3 player? (default winner iPod) Most priced-out-of-the-market product? Most horrid pre-mod?
how about: 1: best kik-arse video card that a guy who doesnt have doctors for parents can afford? (9600pro?) 2: most over-hyped product of the year? 3: best overall product line? maybe by categories, i.e. tft's, crt's, speakers, input devices, cases, w/c kits? 4: most reliable online retailers? split uk/us? (newegg gets my vote for us.) 5: silliest new product? (like those antec bubblerod things) 6: most un-fubar-able product? like stuff that even i cant break. 7: best new innovation of the year. (like them smart display dealies) 8: shiniest boxes. ( everyone really just buys the packaging. who cares whats inside it?)
Worst technical support Highest failure rate Most idiotic support staff Most pointless product Tackiest product Bang & Olufsen award (style over any substance)
Besides some of those proposed already: Based on criterion such as performance, price, Customer service. Technical support, and availability - paper releases of a technology do not count entries must be shipping in sufficient volume at the start of judging. Its a tall order, but it will give the winner a real, comprehensive view upon how well a manufacturer is doing. Have a prize in each hardware category for best, worst, and most moddable (where applicable): (if, perhaps there is less than 5 manufacturers considered then only the best could be named.) Hard drives Vid cards Motherboards Processor Memory(ram) Optical drives Cases Heatsinks Software Networking Audio Monitors Mobile Computing "Other": Anything not covered above (digicams, Flash memory) As well as: The most interesting, and cool use of technology with utterly no purpose. The most purposeful use of technology. Even if it is the blandest most inelegant use of it. Most innovative
the smallest full-power computer, to honor space-saving and miniaturization. (which, of course, the Shuttle XPC would win )
I'd kind of like to see a most standards-compliant website award. (/me tries to throw together a standards compliant website and give bit a product to review just to win an award)
This made me laugh to death Ok Best game engine of the year. Best not conventional table lamp. Best movie poster.
Well i don't know about anyone else, but i'm sick of my HDD's failing. How about 'most reliable HDD award'.
