Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Game Gear, swiftly followed by Tetris on Gameboy. The first game that i played that was my own, was Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive, and my first PC game other than Solitare and Minesweeper would be Lemmings, again swiftly followed by C&C Red Alert: The Aftermath. Attack Dog vs Tesla Coil still cracks me up to this day. Sam
3d Monster Maze on my brothers 16k ZX81. I was five, but I distinctly remember my brother showing it to me - set up on a little portable black and white telly at my grans house. Great topic, made me google the game and see a screen shot that I had not seen for over 30 years!

Hmm, I think that would've been on the BBC Micro so either Chuckie Egg, Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy or maybe even Repton, I can't really remember but then I would only have been five or six when they came out.
I'm ashamed of being from generation Y; my first game was Runescape But my first *real* video game was CS1.6. A tenant who my family used to live with was one of those nerdy asian dudes who kept their puters on 24/7 sipping warez at 50kb/s for weeks on end, and he eventually got a complete copy of CS1.6. I didn't know anything about p2p or fps at the time, but that really got me hooked on fps. I'd imagine if he introduced me to starcraft, I'd have just as easily turned out as a rpg gamer or something. He's like the older friend gang recruit that got me addicted to these drugs. The sad part is that we were playing against bots, and we thought it was amazing. It wasn't until after building my own computer and discovering the internet feature called forums (in that sequence - no help building my computer, just lotsa reading) that I heard about Steam.
Medal of honor allied assault when I was 6, couldn't get passed the tutorial as i kept on killing myself with grenades
First one I remember is an old school racing car game called Jaguar which was on a floppy disk for an Amiga...:S
Me either. I remember the first game I really enjoyed was... This kind of platform thing on Spectrum. All I remember was that you were a guy trying to... do something. You had to jump over things and avoid robots that in my head were like Johnny 5. Cannon Fodder/Sensible Soccer were probably the first games I was really obsessed with. I went to a Stag do a few years back that had a load of Amiga's set up and we had a Sensi Soccer Tourny. Coolest Stag Do EVER.
Repton. If you never played repton is was a basic 2d puzzler. The second game was notoriously difficult, where in order to win you had to go through about 20 portals or so and complete new maps in exactly the right order, completing everything (killing all monsters, collecting /everything you can pick up/) and then finally navigating your way across a screen of falling meteors in order to get to the end. The not so funny thing was there was a bug which meant the game looked for one diamond too many, and so never thought you had got all the diamonds - so it was actually, the first version at least, impossible Great game! They ruined it now by putting in save points. Originally you had 3 lives to do all of this
The first games I ever played were Super Mario, Duck Hunt, and Star Tropics. I was about 3 or 4 years old, so I do not know which one was the first but I remember having them.
