Anyone know of the Swedish snuff? It's not like chewing tobacco, dry snuff or anything, but really moist, ground tobacco leaves. You squeeze it to a ball and put it under your upper lip... Needless to say you get a LOT more nicotine into your body that way, but on the bright side there's no smoke, no smell and no tar in your lungs. Anyway, I've been using snuff for a number of years... like 12 and decided to get rid of the bad habit this July. I took on a rather stupid approach I was told, but it has worked surprisingly well for me... I didn't quit, I even brought a snuffbox with me allt he time so i didn't feel the panic "what if i'll need one..." I just waited until i really really REALLY absolutely NEEDED to get some snuff, which hasn't happened once so far four months so far. Only bad thing with giving up snuff is that the health reward you get from stop smoking, just isn't there with snuff Sure, there was some episodes of craving, even trembling hands, deperate for nicotine, but the hardest part to break for me was the habit. My fingers are crossed, stand tall and hang in there Yoda Soon you'll feel smell again, and taste.. and you'll feel healthier, fresher.. Good luck or break a leg or whatever it takes
Well another day for me and no cravings! Yoda I get the little tickling cough aswell also get the excess mukus coming back up which isnt nice! I'm doing well but Friday night will b a test as I go out for a couple with my mates who SMOKE - please don't try to avoid the swear filter Oh well im sure i'll be ok, keep up the good work you non-smokers!
*applause* Youve made it through the worst yoda. To me, the first 9 days were the worst, but the whole two weeks after quitting made me crazy. The cravings wont ever stop- you should prepare yourself for that. It wont ever go away. Once youre a smoker, youre always a smoker. But take every second at a time. When those heavy ones come along, distract yourself. Do something you know is going to eat up an hour or more. You will eventually (and soon too!) reach the point where you begin to realise its more worth it feeling healthy, not waking up with **** in your throat and being able to taste food than ever coming close to another cigarette. Stay strong and congrats.
Good going GiGo keep at it. Just looked over and there's £50 sitting there after only ten days, thats £50 that would have been up in smoke this time a fortnight ago.
Cant believe after all this time I cracked a little and had a couple tonight. Will have to double my efforts and make sure it doesn't happen again, god I thought I was beyond the worst, weird thing is I don't really feel like I need any more. Damned alcohol. Was a weird feeling too, got all light headed.
Omg yodasarmpit, don't let it happen again or we'll all laugh at you about what a wus you are that you can't live without nicotine! Keep it up matey, arrrrr!
what made you do it? Were you drunk? If we're talking strictly money, quit the alcohol too That'll give you a couple hundred in a week I know, I know, you all love alcohol, whatever. I'll keep my money and my brain cells.
Its not the cash, that's just an added incentive. TBH its the health thing that's the real incentive, after playing footie and being out off breath when I shouldn't have was a big wake up call. Another reason is that my grandfather (or papa as I call him) has recently suffered a heart attack (which he has recovered from very well), I have been taking him to his rehabilitation classes which I have sat in and listened to, the classes concentrated a lot on smoking and how the carbon monoxide inhaled when smoking can be a major contributer to heart attacks.
Ok ill hold my hands up I was with some of my old mates (who bloody ssmoke) and I took one without thinking, finished and then cried!!!!! (Well maybe I didnt!) But I was annoyed I juwt forgot! The main effort of this exercise for me is to cut down on what I have and not get the urge to put a ciggy in my hand as i've got nothing else to do! One thing I have found whenever I leave to go out I do my quick tap pockets check and always think i've forgotton something! Ah thats it, cigs! But thats a good thing! Keep up the good work Yoda your doing well.
Update you say.. Well I did fall off the wagon over the Christmas period, but only for a few days, it was harder than I thought esp after I had done so well. I have no intention of starting again (thats what I said the last time ) Christmas was just a blip, that we can all forget about
hmmmmmmm yoda slipping there matey keep up the work anyway and how can you slip, i thought you threw away the packets of cigs AND the lighters anyways im still smokin well like 3 or 4 every weekend, no craves, and dont want any, first crave i get , i quit ...
he may have chucked his in the bin, but when your flatmate still smokes, i guess its not had to say yes when he goes want a ***?
Well it's a damn shitty flatmate then. If I was trying to stop smoking, I'm sure my friends wouldn't ask me to have a smoke.
hehe, before my dad started smoking again he'd ask me for a cigarette down the pub at christmas. i don't think i'm a shitty son for letting him have one, and i don't think he's weak for wanting a ciggie at christmas. if my flatmate smaoked and i asked for a ciggie at christmas, i'd argue that he'd be being shitty if he said no
yoda your doing really well keep up the good work, as for me im back on them along with my mate, but we have seriously cut down!!! From about 150 - 200 week to about 40 - 50 Xmas and New Year wasn't to bad for me infact only had 4 cigs on new years eve! I'm getting all the mukus out of my lungs and its bloody annoying cough!!!
