Save money on address books - just use the phone directory and cross out all the people you don't know.

Brew your own beer would be my number 1 tip. Small initial outlay then £15.00 for 40 pints!

To keep shopping bags from spilling out their contents in the car, tie the handles together. Works with plastic bags or those 50p reusable jobies.

    1. Use a single 'overhand' know to tie the handles together. (Two of these basic knots will become a grannie or reef and will jam)

    2. Tuck one handle through the loop of the other.

Stays tied but remains easy to untie.

    ----

Tie the middle of a bungee cord around the metal supports for your car front seat headrests.

Use the bungee cord hooks to keep shopping bags, takeway bags, laptop cases from falling over. They will reach to the ground on the rear footwell, or work on the front passenger seat.

Carry around a permanent marker. When you meet someone for the first time write their name on their forehead.

They'll wash it off in a few days, but by then you'll remember their name really easily.

    ----

Buy a 1km length of bright red string and tie all your belongs to it spaced every one to two meters then tie the loose ends together.

If you can't find something, just grab the nearest part and follow it along until you reach your lost item.

    ----

To save money on expensive personalised number plates just change your name to match your existing number plate.

Personally my advice with regards to personalised plates is to just not live in Surrey in the first place.

    1. never try to fill an inside straight.
    2. the hot ones are always crazy. the ugly ones too.

neither are strictly financial advice, but both will save you money.

Life is not an audition so what if you make a fool of yourself.

You can't take your money with you....someone I knew at work had about 40k in the bank he talked about wanting a new car etc, etc.

Bit of a sad case still living with his parents who were old and they were loaded as well.

Had an operation came out of hospital died at home that afternoon.

+1 for meal planning and buying sensibly in bulk.

Look at the per 100g cost or equivalent on a supermarket label and buy whatever is cheapest that you use regularly.

Never be sucked in by "promotional offers" such as 2 for £2 when individually they might be £0.75 each (yes i've seen this in tesco/sainsbury/asda etc)

Be out of fashion with mobile phones and wait a few months for the phone you desire - will inevitably be cheaper than when you first looked.

Check out hotukdeals before you buy something - android app is good for quick searches and someone has usually done the hard work for you already :D

This is illegal. If you see this in a supermarket or even a small shop, report it to the office of fair trading. An offer MUST give you some kind of advantage over buying separately, so if it's 2 for £2, then it must work out cheaper than buying them separately. Likewise if there's a massive sign saying 'PRICE REDUCTION only £1' or something like that, the price must be cheaper than before the offer otherwise it is breaking laws.

Also, if the shop is saying Closing down and it has been saying so for more than 6 months or a year ( I dunno know how long exactly, it differs depending on the type of shop) and they are still not closed; this is Fraud and must be reported.

Yeah, you're not allowed. If you say you're closing, you actually have to close XD
