How thick cable must I have if i gonna extend the cables on the psu?! To thick, and the resistance get higher to?! Sorry for the noob question
#22 i believe not very sure it should be displayed on the cables itself, wait for some more posts i'm not 100%
The thicker your wires the less resistance there is. Why that is I don't know, but its the law. As for what gauge the PSU wires are... couldn't tell you, snip one and take it to your local circuits shop and compare.
The wires are usually 18G on the molex wires, some of the other 5V, 12V and 0V may be 16G. Why is thicker wire lower resistance? Why does a 4-lane highway have less resistance to traffic flow than a narrower road?
Voltage is speed. Traffic is current. All them people rubbernecking at a roadside accident are the load. I am the walrus
goo goo g'joob. when i was younger i always thought it was the other way so i would look for the smallest wire i could find. ah the stupidity of youth
Thanx dudes! I,m going to my wire dealer with a piece of cable... I have find some cables with transparent coating, looks really cool. Any suggestions on how to mark them up? Maybe some colored tape?
In uk that 1.5 mm diameter core (or 2.5mm) 1mm = 5Amps ac 2.5mm = 25Amps ac so i think youll prolly want 2.5mm 2core and earth(3core) flex but you may find most pcs may have 1.5 mm.
