Hello, Was wondering if anyone could help me out. I was recently trying out TightVNC, I installed it and had it running on the server, then managed to connect with my other PC, and all seemed to be working fine. I then tried to install it so that it would start by itself on reboot. After doing this I found that when I connected I could only view the server. I can see that it is updating as when I move the mouse on it I see it move on my screen, however when I move teh mouse on the viewing machine it has no effect on the server. I have checked and made sure that its not set to 'view only' or anything like that. I have also tried removing it from the server and reinstalling as per the first time it worked, however this doesn't seem to be working now either, any help would be appreciated, Dan
It might have retained previous settings if it didn't remove a config file or something. Try uninstalling it at both ends and also delete the folder. I've stuck with Ultra VNC after trying a few, it's worked flawlessly and also has built in messaging and file transfer... it's freeware too www.uvnc.com
Likewise i would recommend total uninstall and install on the server, the client end can just use the standalone viewable exe btw, so no need for installs on client side Be sure to clear the windows registry of any tightVNC entries. ( HKLM\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\ ) Tight VNC also supports messages, copy and paste to and from server and client, and the transfering of files, as well as being free of cause
Cheers for the help, I was wondering if it would just be something like that, I'll give it a go when I get home
Just FYI, I've never had any luck with TightVNC server on any computer. The viewer works great and I use it daily, but I always end up with a different server app on the other end.
