    Ripped from elsewhere.

So, good, bad, ugly? Is it going to end up like Big Brother, Who wants to be a millionaire or Deal or No Deal?

I am much happier with the Aussies doing it than say the Americans trying to do Top Gear *shudders*

It might be quite good, they've got plenty of big v8 muscle cars to throw around a track.

I totally agree, but it would be fun watching all the americans "trying" to go round corners shouting "POWERRRRRRRR".

Thought the guest star will have it easy either a straight line or only left corners :naughty:

"Star in a reasonably priced car" could be interesting in either country since its likely to be a V8 death trap and not a daft little Suzuki.

Most popular shows are popular because of the cast as much or more than the content. Ab Fab without Saunders & Lumley, Till Death Us Do Part without Warren Mitchell & Co, Countdown without Richard Whitely, My Hero without Ardal O'Hanlon, just don't do it. Top Gear is no exception. :sigh:

But isn't the essence of Top Gear, how very English it is?

The Australians arn't that far away from us on that point. American Top Gear would just be a hodge podge of stupidity and fat, but I think there's a slim chance the Aussies could get away with it.

American Top Gear would be like British Pimp My Ride... Just wrong.

Its the cast that makes it- we know them, we KNOW clarkson is a dick and thats what makes it great :)

    Agreed

from the very little that i've seen of this show over the years (all on the internet), I think it just wouldn't be the same without the original cast

But the original cast includes Tiff and a few other 5th gear people.
It's basically Clarkson and that's it. Frankly, if he left the show I doubt anyone would bother watching it.
