    Now you're getting to the point that you're best bet is to use a microcontroller. Doing it in hardware is a neat excercise but it will become a nuisance if you want to change it later. Using a microcontroller will let you set the timings by either reprogramming or by using other means (perhaps an ADC reading a pot).

    hahaha but no... well i actully got the stop light for christmas and well now we sell them at my work... and so i got a walk dont walk light too... and the thing is if i can make these things cheap enuf they have agreed to buy the controllers off of me so i can make a few bucks doing it... so besides being all cool in my bedroom id like to do that too... so now about this whole microcontroller deal how would i go about doing that?
