    G'day all,

I'm trying to put flags onto the end of an MSI file and have it pushed out through GPO, unfortunately, GPO computer assignment only allows MST files to go with the MSI file, there's no area for custom flags...

So....does anybody know of a (freeware) program that can create an MST file for the MSI file?

A batch file is not an option unfortunately

    Thanks

Creating MST files for MSI installation packages will vary for each product. For Microsoft Office you can utilise the Custom Installation Wizard in the Resource Kit.

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/HA011402391033.aspx

For other packages you will need to use tools that are for that particular piece of software (e.g. InstallShield Tuner 7.0 for Adobe Acrobat, http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2709).

The other way to create MST files is with Orca which is part of the Windows Installer SDK. This tool allows you to create MST files for any MSI. However it will take some knowledge of MSI files.

How to use the Orca database editor to edit Windows Installer files

The best resource for deploying applications is: http://www.appdeploy.com. Also Google orca for more info.
