This is my annual thread, now, I think!

Does anyone know of any upcoming RTS games that are coming out - games worthy of following in the footsteps of greats like Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander:FA?

I like big explosions, economy management and massive battles - they don't come along too often methinks

I have Sins of a Solar Empire - and that is fantastic - but are there anything upcoming games in this genre that you can think of?

    Thanks in advance!!! :thumb:

Planetary Annihilation is coming out next year, its from alot of the team that made the original total annihilation and supreme commander actually.

Its just finished its kickstarter campaign so only a few months to go until its finished.

Company of Heroes 2 has just gone up for pre-order on Steam. Not quite the same as Sins, but still in the RTS camp I would think. Pre-order gives you access to beta when it opens - the game itself is not released until 2013.

I just shat - totally worth the mess, this is the game that I have been waiting for since Supcom:FA

I'm now weeping uncontrollably - does a finished kickstarter campaign = definite game?

rep to you for finding this

As Jedra said, they smashed their base goal and achieved all of their stretch goals.

You can still "donate" to the project through the kickstarter on their webpage, using PayPal and you will get all the rewards that come with it. Some of these allow for Alpha or Beta access.

PA and CoH2 are the big titles coming up, but there's also a FTP (or something) Command & Conquer based off Generals rather than the pile of dog mess that was C&C4.

EDIT: gilljoy, I'd expect PA to take another year to complete, not a few months. They're only just starting development, and for a game of its size it is going to take a good while. FTL, another Kickstarter game, took about 6 months to go from KS to launch...and it's an indie title that is a lot simpler to make.

Also, really tempted by the CoH2 Collector's Edition on Steam for some reason...

As someone said above, you can still go the main PA website and donate through paypal, $20 will get you the game!

Yes, definitely, I doubt we will see PA until at least Q4 2013, as development really is just in its infancy.

How about Wargame: European Escalation, not so much resource management but if you liked World in Conflict and RUSE then it will be good.

I'm tempted! More of a long-term investment than I usually like, but it does look damn good.

Wargame: EE is already out? He's asking about upcoming titles.

However, the developers of W:EE do have a new game coming, Wargame: AirLand Battle that, if it sticks to the excellence of W:EE will be rather good and on an even bigger scale.

I dropped in $150 to this one. Can't wait for the Alpha.
