Would love some advice about my new build/upgrade i have took the plunge and bought a new cpu, ram ,mobo and case add that to hardware i already own my new build will be as follows. amd fx 8150 with water cooler Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX 16GIG DDR3 coarsair vengeance 1600mhz 2x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1GB corsair 500r case 1X 60GIG SSD 1X 150GIG RAPTOR 10000RPM (gaming) 1x 3tb HD (storage) dvd burner My question is would my old PSU Hiper Type R Mk II 880W power supply be enough? http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Cases-and-Cooling/Hiper-Type-R-Mk-II-880W-Power-Supply-Review The power is there but as its 5 years old could any connectors be missing i may require on new hardware mobo etc? i have the GFX card adapters already im also aware the 8150 is power hungry but i got a great deal on it. look forward to the advice regards Adam
I don't think there is much wrong with the PSU you've got, should be more than man enough to power the above, how old is the PSU in question ?
Ive had it installed since summber 2008 so close to 5 years. its modular but an early version only every been in one build pc.
Should be plenty. I have a Hiper 880w running my 2500K, gtx670, ssd, hdd, six fans etc. It's overkill for me really but it was a bargain when I bought it.
thanks for the replys been building and modding for years, never knew PSU's deteriorateover time. Just a couple of quick question rather than start new threads firstly i have been looking at maybe picking up an extra GTX 460 i can buy used ones on ebay for a reasonable price would a TR-SLI work on my setup? Also although i would have to re-format and re-install windows, as mine is only a half build would i need to buy a new version of windows? What does the product key lock too?
