    Quick question that i think will be a yes, but cutting off the extra USB plug on something like this would be fine, yes?

    Having a 9pin USB plug waving around in the air when I'm only going to use the USB3 connector makes things look rather untidy so snipping it of wouldn't effect anything, right?

    So long as the leftover bits of wire going into the strain relief don't short, you're golden.

    It shouldn't, given it's likely only there as a compatability measure for older boards without a usb 3 header...

    ...though if really don;t want to cut the connector off, the other option would be wrap it and the 2 main cables up in electrical tape or braiding
