I have a need to go from a usb key into a sata connection.

My thoughts are that I could just get a sata to usb adapter and hope that it will work backwards but I have a felling that it won't work due to driver issues but on the other hand maybe it is just the little box that sits between the cables that allows for the conversion.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks.

why do you need to do that? Can't you just plug it into a USB socket?

I have a device that acquires an md5 hash of a drive. It has a sata port. I am hoping to be able to do usb keys as well.

Well that was what I was thinking but I didn't know if that work work backward from what they created it for or not.

It won't work in reverse and I doubt you will be able to do it at all. After all, not all USB devices are mass storage devices.
