Sorry, delphia - I didn't mean to sound like I was having a go... - just a bit overprotective cos I got young kids of my own, I guess?!
Back on topic... Option 1: ATX mobo, fit a key-switch instead of your power button. Power up would involve turning the key to the on position and then turning back to the off position. Shutdown using the start-> shutdown option. If you need a hard reset, turn key to 'on' position for a few secs. I did this to my last case and it worked great. Option 2: Fit key-switch in series with the power button. Power button does nothing unless the key is set to the 'on' position. Option 3: AT mobo, use key-switch instead of pow button. Turn to on for power on. Turn to off for power off. Easy. Anyway, passwording etc offers same if not better security, but a key-switch can look cool when done properly. And let's face it, modders just like things that look cool //frowns at kiddie pr0n... surfs to kinkygrannies.com
That reminds me: I need to get new firmware for my firewall *lovinly pats Linksys BEFSR41* Oh well, i'll do it later.
ive got that router... windows XP wont let me login to it? All i do is leave the user section blank and then fill in the pass as admin by default right? grrr..... oh! and im having a problem with AIM and other stuff. people are having a hard time establishing connections to me when im behind this thing.
-for the switch: nice idea but get rid of those thumb screws -Now here is one cool thing I once saw a scanner for finger prints compat had one of theseon a 'puter I once saw. To make it effective you'd have to put that the check in the bios .... (and that's too much trouble). Maybe in te mbr then..... PS. I'm usings my univercity's P.C. to surf and I'v never seen such a bad keyboard: It's caled "beauty keyboard" an has a nice WinDo$e logo. the keys work every other times ,the backspace keyis as small as all the letter keys and space is held only in the middle so if ou don' hit it in the exact middle either it doesn't go down or it gets stuck!!!!
Thanks for the advice MrDT - I think I'll be going for option 2 as soon as I can get down to my local Halfords, or Maplins to pick up the key switch.
