OK, Guys this is my first post in this sit so go easy. This is my latest mod which is still in progress. I still need to add lighting to the top and upgrade the components now that is working. I have updated a few tweaks since These pics such as adding a fan to the Video card and a Higher CFM fan to the CPU.

Here is a link to the build page.

there are a lot of pics there and I thought it was pointless to copy them all here. Here is the pics.

I have added the Hyperlight and some white LED fans. Although it's color does not match the LED's. So I may have to change it over to some superbright LED's strategically placed. I will live with it a while and see. I also added a CD Drive button on the back of the case so I don't have to push against the faceplate of the cd to open it. The buttons on the face of the CD drive made my cover stick out in a strange way. Now it is more "stealthy". I did a lot of rewiring and stuff that you can't see. Also added a new 60gb hard drive. That old 8gb was to slow and was driving me crazy. I almost forgot I added the smartfan II and painted it silver from orange. Now at full speed my system stays at 27C and when I turn it down it still runs at only 32C. A big improvement from that junky old clear fan.

Is the bit with the ports on the front then?
Cool Idea - How did you make the acrylic case?

I noticed the water cutter in your project log.
Where did you get that done?

    You mean This?
    http://www.austinpcmods.com/images/pics/utMod/making the grills.jpg

It's actually an engraving machine. (basically a small CNC router) I work at a sign shop and I just create what I need. We have Giant plotters, printers cutters, a whole shop full of goodies. I don't why it took me so long to get into modding. I am kinda the opposite of most modders anyways, I don't really think about what goes inside, I am all about the case man. All that electrical stuff is just an afterthought. After I get an Idea I kinda go:"OK, now how do I make the stuff fit in?"

Here is a Tut I made on bending acrylic. I made this case in a similar way just way...way more complicated.http://www.austinpcmods.com/Plex Bending Tutorial.htm

[edit] Zap, don't you have a versa laser? Those own routers and waterjets.

Oh, and a9on87 the setup is the LCD would be mounted(?) just on top of the cd and switches. That way from the sides you would see the guy and the back just the etchings. I am thinking of a clear plastic henge so I can lift the Screen up to show off the inside. Of course this is all just "In Theory".

That's one creative and original case Sheldog. Great execution of your vision.

Good guide, I may build one of those benders once I get room.

My laser can gut plexi and wood just fine, but not metal.

yeah, that's the bummer of an otherwise awsome machine.

You can get waterjeting and Routing at Aquajet here in austin. They have crappy service though. You may also try a place called Let-R-Signs. The owner Dick Smith is a friend of mine and has cut a couple of things on his router table for me. He is a good old guy, just tell him it's for a computer and Sheldon sent you, he will nod knowingly.

For you Modders here in Austin who need any kind of graphic work or special material modding (weilding, routing, custom applique) just let me know. I have worked in the sign business for a long time and have lots of contacts. I also work at the Fastsigns on Anderson Mill and could probably get you a price break.

Definitely going to have to steal the idea for bending acrylic. Ive tried it using a heat gun and it was just way to inaccurate. Your method gives it the degree of control that I need. Thanks.

    Case is very sharp.
