I had seen an article a while back on how to make a VU Meter! I forgot where it was, too much moddin' I think!! NNNAAAAAA!! Doe's anybody know where I can find this article or one like it??
no...not a voltmeter....a vu meter. The meter that shows the intensity of the speaker volume with LEDs.
That's true. They're the same only a VU metre is mostly used (or mistaken wuh'evah ) for when you want to see sound activity or hdd activity shown with LEDs flashing. I'm quite a big fan of those but dont have the knowledge/materials to build one either.
To be fair, a vu-meter is scaled in decibels, which is a bit more log-ish than the usual linear voltmeter scaling. A LM3915 circuit will sort you out, check the datasheet or google on "LM3915 vumeter" (and vu-meter)
Hey guys!! Thanx to cpemma, I have found some good circuit guides on this subject and thought I would share them!! The first one is the one I will use! http://alfaie.virtualave.net/electronics/circuits/measuring/vumeter.htm http://www.electronic-circuits-diagrams.com/audioimages/audiockt14.shtml http://www.ozitronics.com/docs/k89.pdf Have fun ya'll
