I got my letter just now that I got into University! I am so happy They only took in around 20% of the applicants and I am one of them!!! Now 4 years of Media technology for me.
Thx everyone. @Tibby: We dont really have freshers week over here. It works a lil different. We have some partys but nothing like freshers week in the UK
Haven't you been reading the forums? Media Technology is apparently a waste of time, and you'll end up working at a fast food restaurant for minimun wage! But really, congratulations. I hope you enjoy media as much as I did! -monkey
Congrats. Word of advice? Dose up on Vitamin C and other vitamins for the first few weeks, make your immune system nice and strong to avoid all the new germs you get. A bit square, true, but trust me when i say that getting Freshers Flu in the Freshers Week is the worst thing that can happen. You miss out on so much if you're tucked up in bed with soup. Know what I mean?
how is the term freshers not pc ? oh and joe is right on the "try not to get freshers flu" thing, you really don't want it :>
Is it not conditional? If so, what do you need? Well done all the same- I got accepted for all my offers, but I've got my heart set on Reading. If I don't get the grades I might just cry! <A88>
I remember I applied to three unis and then rejected two, even though one was unconditional, purely because I liked the look of Lancaster so much. Loved my time there and almost went back to live there afterward. Spent ages worrying I may not get a good enough English grade since, at GCSE, I'd been in bottom sets (stupid teachers, wouldn't move me even after they realised the mistake) and had had to fight to be allowed to study English Lit at all. But then, hey, what do you know - I didn't drop a single mark on the course. Booyah, etc.
no idea mate. i just remember having a conversation with a professor at City university about it last summer who thought it was "a load of bollocks" (best university professor evahr!)- I don't remember the suggested new term but it was typically bland. Doesn't look like the proposed change in terminology happened, fortunately!
The closest we have to Freshers week is the Analogue Camp, which is one weekend camping in the woods with NO electronics aloud. Its for all engineering students to get back to the "roots"
Congrats! Remember don't forget to work your nuts off - they'll probably only be offering jobs to 20% of graduates. From experience, its easier to get good grades by starting in the first year rather than the last....
interesting questions, and what university is it you got accepted to (a small detail missed out ) what is your offer for reading, i guess it depends what your studying as even they said they aren't the best ... I got conditionals from reading, surrey, Southampton and imperial (i accepted southampton and imperial) *crosses fingers for the grades i need*
Its here in Finland called Arcada. I am not 100% set on the line i am reading but its ether Media technology or IT
