I'm seriously thinking about covering an entire wall with old mother boards, Has anyone done anything like this? I would like to see a picture of it before I venture into the unknown.
It's actually only about 6 foot wide and 8 foot tall. I just aquired 8 mobo's and I have at least 6 more at home so I'm off to a good start. I might even be able to get my hands on a board from an HP 5600 printer, they are HUGE!
Dont think that enybody did that...actually I was thinking of covering table with old mobos, painting the circuts wixh UV colerd pens like in the tutorial on metku.net an then putting a plexi plate on top and some UV lighting...
hmm, if you do it, its either gona look awesome or total crap, thats how things go. It could look nice and tidy, but it may just look like a bunch of crap stuck to the wall, by all means try it, i`d like to see it done `P2D
I like the table idea too, that sounds pretty cool. I'm going to take plenty of pictures to post when the wall is done. Heck I might start working on it tonight. I wonder if I should wire them together or keep the cables out of the equasion. Hmmmmm he ponders more.
cables, power supplies, cpus, ram... have a fully operational cluster running on your wall! CAUTION: this may make your room look a total tip, and you a total loser.
I'm thinking that will be a bit much, less is more. I'm just going for a one wall decoration not a mad scientist lab.
It would look good if you de-soldered the components so you just had the bare PCBs, although that might be extremely time-consuming...
personaly i'd make a picture out of them... or a word. I've seen circuit boards made into a giant word before, it was in a cyber cafe
Awsome thats going to be sweet make sure you get pics. I think you should randomly plug cables into the mobos and connect them. Even if there not supposed to be connected. Still imo awsome.
I put 4 of them up last night just to see what it's going to look like and it's going to be really cool. As for cables and such I will have to get the boards up first and then figure out what I want to do. I will get pictures as soon as I get more boards to finish the wall.
I could use the wall to store all of my extra ram and processors.. lol When I need a part, it's right there.
It'll be really easy to do (just nails through the skrew holes) but I think the clash of colors will look really bad. Plus it would suck so much to trip and bash your head into a metal socket or something. You couldn't even lean up against the walls or anything imo. Plus, I think the clash of colors will look really bad.
