I really love 40k, just noticed the PC demo which I will play tonight. I feel like this game is being overshadowed by such a massive final quarter though, would have been good out a month ago.

i really wan't to buy this to support relic (one of my fave devs) but i don't think i can afford to buy another game. Maybe if Green man has some nice discounts but otherwise i'll wait for a price drop.

In the meantime, it's back to painting my Dreadnought and some last stand in retribution for my 40k fix.

I'm looking forward to this one but it'll be the PC version for me.

This just confirmed my preorder. On my connection, it would take a month to download the demo via steam. :(

Thank you guys for this review. Relic has been very kind to 40k, and it's utterly relieving to know that they're continuing that love for the universe with this release.

    Can. Not. Wait.

Need me some Ork punching. Right in the mouth. With a chain sword.

I'd prefer it to be the Black Templars, though, that'd make the whole "leap into combat to regain health" make sense. Rather than the Codex Astartes loving Ultramarines.

..For those not into the table top version, the Black Templars are similar to the Knights Templar of the crusades etcetera, but they have rules that force the units to run at the enemy when they take damage. They take "zealot" to new levels.

One opportunity missed, I wanted to play the Orks. The PC demo was fun, but the third person view, or the camera shake gave me motion sickness after 10 minutes of playing it. I wonder if playing sitting further back from the screen would offer me some relief?.

The PC version appears to be a proper PC version and not some 1/2 arsed port. The controls work, and make sense, you can adjust the graphics, etc, etc.

As it stands, it looks like a lot of fun to play, but I wouldn't buy it (for the PC at least) because of the motion sickness thing. Shame..

I take it you've seen the customiseable options in this game? :) Trust me, you'll be catered for. As for the Ultramarines not being the kind to take it into the enemy, I say one word: Vanguard.

Odd that you mention that - I was playing the demo last night and did exactly that to an Ork Nob. :D

There's something very satisfying about the power axe.

Any reviewer who starts making "Gears of Warhammer/God of Warhammer" or "Iron Halo" cracks will be written off as a fool and a heretic immediately. It's painfully obvious it's not Gears of God of War, largely because it's not Greek nor all brown. And a comment referencing Halo will just bring sniggers of amusement from those less ignorant.

    ...

    Want this game so much.

Especially since it doesn't use cover mechanics!

The new Serious Sam 3 trailer said it right...

    "All Man. No Cover." :D

On a more serious note, I think the idea of getting health back by wading in is a brilliant idea. Space Marines in general are all about fighting harder when the odds are against them, and this game mechanic makes those truly heroic moments that go against taking cover all the better.

Where's the cheapest xbox pre-order!? I used to use Play.com but they're rubbish these days, barely cheaper than the high street! Anyone got any ideas?

    I want this game asap.

Steam won't let me download the demo. Says "Oops, unavailable in your region."

    *annoyed*

£37 - £38 from Amazon, HMV or Zavvi, £40 from Game for 360 or PS3.

@Bit: You sure you've given the release date for the right country? It's the 9th of September here in Blighty, they get it on the 6th t'other side of the pond.
