The driving manual says the average driver's reaction time is: .75 seconds........ or 1 car length for every 10 mph......

Now let's play a game and see who has the best reflexes on Bit-Tech.

    Here's how you play:

Test your average reaction time using the link to this flash game from the BBC

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sleep/sheep/reaction_version5.swf

Post your reaction time below with a screenie to prove it.

    Enjoy! :D

    First time around, .2768

Two more times, .2534 and .2632

Two more times again, now .2632 and .2534 for a second time each.

After a couple runs, I am consistently hitting most of them at the .217 mark, but every time there is one or two that gets past there and brings up the average.

What keeps throwing me off is how they are animated. You can't simply go by clicking at the first sign of movement.

I blame my ping, since I'm in the US.

It needs a mute button, though!
Also, I don't think it's an accurate representation of reaction times, because you know what to expect.

For an accurate measurement of real world reaction time to an unexpected emergency, you should play the game somewhere distracting, such as say by a road? Hey that's an idea, similar distractions to how it is when actually driving!!!

See how you perform in the game, with cars and people all around you... wait, what was that exhaust tone??? oh damn, 2 second reaction time, ok, better concentrate... I hear high heels passing behind me.... oh damn, look at that ass :eeek: boombadaboombadaboom, oh SHIIII 15 second reaction time :duh:

But wait, to make things really realistic, in one hand, you must have either an ipod, iphone, ipad, isandwhich, icigarette, isomething that you can't get enough of and use it while driving.

Anyway... this isn't a test of how good a driver anyone is at all. Lewis Hamilton won't have any better reactions that any other guy of the same age/fitness. He can predict what will happen by being teh master of what he does. It's the same for driving on the road. If you have a good idea of what is going to hapen; If you are expecting something to happen, you will react faster to it. If you are relying upon your reaction times alone, you're a crap driver.

Anyway... you're right... it IS addictive :)
