The more I read on watercooling, the more PCs I see burned down because their pump failed. Is it a good idea to replace it periodically?

A desent pump should last many years before they go. Changing it periodically is both costly and expensive. The best method is to have some form of flow indicator so that when the pump does go you can turn it off and replace it. It however is not a common problem.

    Get in the flow

Don't forget that some of these pumps are designed for a harder live then we would give it. Remember also that ponds and fish tanks are on 24/7 so the better ones are designed to "Last for Ever"

    Flow indicators, now your talking.

The more aware you are of your system the better prepared you'll be to act on a problem if one should happen.
