I need a webcam for Skype on my desktop, are there any standout budget models or should I just go out and get the cheapest thing I can find? I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 so not all webcams will work.. I don't want to spend more than $40 or $50 shipped. I would rather have a solid 30FPS at a low resolution than the ability to capture at a hugely fake pixeled 1080p at 5fps, face tracking and that sort of thing isn't important either. Any tips?
I use my Eyetoy from my old Playstation 2, 640x480 but it has a mic and a very solid 30FPS capture speed. Not sure if you'd be able to find drivers for Linux though.
