went to my local pc shop round the corner from my house which was shutting down and picked up a brand new antec 300 and a corsair tx850w psu for a grand total of £60. just thought i'd shout it from the rooftops.
What sort of local PC shop is this? I only ever see InWin psu's and 8600GT's in little PC shops round here. Nice buys btw
Same with my local, 775 mobos at best too. Mind you, there's this PC shop next to a BP garage in Horwich with a huge window to see all the stock, they still sell old macs and pc's preloaded with windows 98
he's going to tell us where he lives, the code to his security system if one exists...then he is going to lay the kit in the middle of his living room, and then go away for a couple days...oh yeah, and leave a couple soda's and some sandwichs with it...thx
There's a GTX580 box in the window of the closest one to me, but I imagine it's empty and the card is installed in the guy's personal rig.
I always imagine guys start the shop with the full intention of doing high end stuff, then realise how much of a local market there is for it and end up stocking ddr1 and endless wifi usb drives
That's basically what happens, because everybody feels such an urge to not go 30 seconds without Facebook that they rush out and buy the cheapest Dell they can find.
Thank God Scan is near me! LOL, it's not next to scan, it's hardly even close, I just like seeing people walk in to beige boxes in the window!
Yeah when I left Bolton people were asking me what I'd miss the most... Family? Friends? Favourite pubs? Nope... Scan! And how can something be in Horwich and not be near Scan?!
the guy in his 60's had run the shop for many years but due to prices on the internet decided it as time to retire. he will keep the workshop going as he repairs alot of computers for the local schools. i went up on his last day of trading to see what bargains he had. he knew i would come so put aside a selection of cases and psu's. i had the antec case and a antec earthwatts 650w psu off him but on sunday tried the psu and it was doa. luckily the guy was roand the shop yesterday clearing up so told him the psu was dead so he just gave me the corsair tx850 for a straight swap. will keep you informed on what will happen. as today i will install the psu and drill the antec 300 for some cable routing. will take some pics as i go along
