    Anandtech's review is up

The 5850 has power sockets in the back, which would give it a similar length requirement in case terms to the 5870

I want a sub £100 air-cooling or h50 case for medium overclocking with good airflow yet as quiet as possible when fans are on low (so I guess that means a 200mil roof fan amongst other things)

In which cases will it fit, and what would you good folks recommend? I'm still rooting for Antec902 or HAF922 at the minute....

So that seems good...maybe take this thread on a different tack - what popular cases won't work?

Uhh... Mini-ITX cases. That's basically it.

The 5850 comes in at 9.5" long, and a standard ATX/mATX board is 9.6" deep. The only catch would be that the PCI-E power plugs face out the end of the card rather than up from the top, so make sure that there isn't anything (especially a hard drive cage) that comes right up against the edge of the motherboard, and you're golden.

Google/Bing some reviews and/or images of the case you want, and you'll probably find a number of pictures of boards installed in the case. That should give you an idea of length issues pretty quickly (and reviews will likely tell you straight up if there's any issues).

+1 on HAF 922. Great case, and would fit a 5850 with absolutely no problemo

If you can fit a HD4870 or a HD4850 in your case, this will fit.

Ah ok - so the length problems that have been raised here and elsewhere are more about what else is in your case and how its been organised, right.....

stock 5850 is a fair bit quieter than 5870. Still wondering which of the cheap-ish cases might dampen sound best or necessitate least fan-whine. The missus needs keeping happy as well as Crysis...both are demanding....

Sorry - what's bad about the 902? I was under the impression that most people's problem with it was that it wasn't enough of a step up from the already überpopular 900.

alot of reviews for the 900/902 are very high. its a good case for the price. also ALOT of people have the 900 due to its cooling. with the 900/902 being pretty much the same im sure it isnt bad. although its your opinion maybe next time more information on it. :thumb:
