Having just graduated i felt the need to get my presence on the internet. So here is the site i have created to show off my work, attract potential employers and maybe drum up freelance business, what do you guys think? Luke www.lmmdesign.co.uk
Looks really good mate! A little slow on the menus and the scroller requires a lot of clicking maybe purhaps a content click scroll would be better. Best of luck hope you get some interest aswell! Regards GiGo
cheers - yeh working on the scrolling now, should be easy but for some reason it baffled me so i decided to leave it till later.
cool. i wish i new how to do that, i got a big fat book called "flash mx 2004 bible" gota read it. I would like to see the middle screen a bit bigger thou, other then that nice stuff.
It looks very good, although you realy should have a HTML version as an option to look at. Those BIG flash sites can take days to load on 56k modems and sometimes refuse to work in web browsers. I know the 56ks are a dieing breed but you need to accomodate for the lowest common denominator, not to mention the bandwidth requirements for YOUR servers will decrease. I realy like the cow backround tho
i like cows mmmmmmmmoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i like the awards section, it shows confidence (and some arogance) but i like it
While I would agree with you that flash is a no-no for most sites, I think it works very well for portfolios. You're able to do things with Flash that you can't do with do with HTML that makes the site look very appealing, which is especially important for a graphics designer.
I'm afraid I'm with NoMercy... I'm not a graphic designer, but I checked out his portfolio of sites, and none of them were any good. Inaccessible, not standards-compliant, nor cross-browser compatible. I'm not meaning to piss on anyones parade, but as a web-developer, I think the sooner we get rid of this kind of approach to web-development, the better... Yours Kill-joy
Its ok, the flash is pretty basic, you should try upping the frame rate to make the animations smoother. Your portfolio itself is a little mediocre.
HI there Have to admit I liked it ... but having said that I found it a little on the small side! Though any bigger and I reckon that it would compromise download times. One teeny weeny pedantic thing about content... your CV should list jobs in the most recent first. People want to read about what you have *just* been doing, not your life story. It's just a standard. Would be interesting to see a similar site done in HTML - so the user can choose where they want to go. Your design is simple and should translate quite well (see the MS transitions for some quick fix effects etc)
