I recently bought XSPC RS240 kit and now want to upgrade fans. I’m looking for good performance/silent operation 120/140mm. I have included a few fans that I consider getting below. From all these which one would you pick? It’s no brainer that SilenX IXP-76-18 120mm got best stats on paper, but reading the reviews throws me off a little bit. What about Xigmatec eXtreme silent? I’m open to your suggestions.

    Hi There

I dont know about the fans you haver listed but people swear by the Scythe Slipstream fans for radiators. Aparantly they are good for rads as they give a high preasure although there are reports of the new ones making more nopise than the old ones. Have a look for reviews.

Myself, I have Enermax white fans on my rad and they do the job.

Might want to check out the Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850s (or even the new 3000s) as they are pretty amazing for rads due to their high static pressure; they're very well reputed for water cooling.

They're also of the best build quality over the S-Flex and Slipstream models.

The RS radiator is designed for low RPM (sub-800) fans, if that's any help to you.

It doesn't exist - performance comes at the expense of silence. The best fans for rads and sinks (bar none) are 38mm-deep fans, because they provide the best static pressure and are therefore able to push a higher volume of air through the interstices of the cooler. Unfortunately, most 38mm fans are high powered because they usually come from servers where noise level is not a concern.

Scythe Gentle Typhoons or Slipstreams (as slaw said) are pretty much the favourites, but they don't come cheap and are sometimes hard to get hold of. For meaningful airflow, you really want something in the region of 1200-1500rpm. Anything below that blowing into a radiator is like peeing onto a forrest fire to quell it, IMHO. :thumb:

The magma's are the best listed and supposed to offer fair static pressure and airflow. The RS rad doesn't have a massive fin density as it's made for being quiet so although the gentle typhoons if you can get them are a good option you should be fine with the enermax magma's
