Can't say i'm bothered, they never seemed to care about the posts in that forum anyway, it was depressing.

I live about 2 minutes away from Microdirect now which is pretty cool because I can just nip in and get something if I want it, Only issue with them is that you have to apply for an online RMA, even if you have dealt exclusively with the shop and are returning something in person which is a bit odd but hey they're relatively cheap and have never screwed me over (unlike scan . . .)

TBH i never had a good experience with Scan. Always got things faster, quicker and with less hassle from OCUK, QuietPC and the likes.

The only problem with going in to microdirect is that you get to find out how much of a bunch of cowboys they are. It's fine if you know exactly what you want, and even then they can be incredibly hard work.

One of their front-end staff in particular is bad for debating about what you want, even when you have the product number for them to type in.

Whereabouts in Mancs are you? If you have a car it's well worth a trip out to Aria (on the way to Eastlands). :)

I've had mixed success with Scan.
Most times the order goes through no problem and arrives the day they said it would.
Sometimes their stock level thing ruins things.
And they lost considerable good-will from me when they took so long to reply to the forum posts in their section.

I think we should get Tekheads in to replace Scan.
Had nothing but excellent service from them and only reason I don't use them every time is down to their selection of parts.
With feedback from us here that would get addresses quick-smart and everyone's a winner. :)

Yeah tell me about it, their counter staff aren't particularly efficient, well one guy is, i think he's possibly the floor manager though, normally dishes stuff out when people have ordered. I generally just go in with a hand written list of stuff i want with product codes and prices so they don't really question me but the indian looking fellow has given my stepdad some bad advice on several occasions. Might check out aria, have driven past many times :)

Is the title something like ScanHost?
If so, then ive started getting some too also recently, but they all ended up in my junk box, thinking I dont recall anything ScanHost related I just deleted them all without opening.

Looks like I still have free delivery. Horray, not that I've ever used it yet - but I might at some point. I think they do free delivery with Hexus too so they probably bundled it all in under one code (bit-tech & hexus) so while free delivery is still a Hexus option then it'll probably stay for all currently free bit-tech users. - my guess!

Has anyone else actually been to Scan? I went once as I was passing the Bolton area and didn't want to pay del on a fan. Much like the other pop in options. So far I've popped in to:

    Scan,
    Yoyotech,
    Saverstore,
    RLSupplies

always looking for pop in options as I travel lots for work.

Planning on popping into KustomPC next time I'm in Ayr (later next month)

You should do - it's our 'local' PC specialist. Not a big showroom, but very knowledgable guys.

I like Scan too, great service for me but am sad to see the free shipping go as it was a serious reason to look for bargains on the site all the time.
Ahem, not everyone on Avforums spams!

I will still buy things from them, they have good prices but with ebuyers free shipping, which has never taken more than 2days, I am more likely to up my basket and spend £50 there than buy something for £30 at Scan.

I used Aria again recently had to cancel an order at 510pm for next day. They were awesome and arranged it in person while I was emailing customer services about it. Very happy about that.

Not found many duds so far, and ebuyer get a thumbs up for randomly sending me things I had not ordered and sending me replacements of cheap items without asking for the old ones back.

Aria (Newly discovered last week and since spent a good few hundred there due to very keen pricing) and Ebuyer (£££s spent there, never a problem) are both great. Scan have always performed too, although their pricing isn't that keen with delivery on top. I ordered a case from Ebuyer this morning (Thurs) and selected Super Saver free delivery, had an Email and it's been dispatched via Citylink already, will be here tomorrow (Friday) - can't sniff at free next day delivery ;)
    Maybe they should be approached.

suppose it's best to not have that disaster of web design associated with the site, anyway.
