I bought my Evesham PC a year ago and I'm thinking of doing some upgrading:

My computer specifications at the moment are as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
    nVidia 7900GTX 512MB
    2GB RAM
    15" TFT Monitor
    230GB Hard Drive

Any suggestions? If you had some money to upgrade from the above specs, what would you do?

Is it worth buying the new nVidia 8800?

I love to buy brand new technology, but I'm thinking that it is not worth buying the new 8800 as I have 7900GTX 512MB. What do you think?

I would like to add more RAM I think. Can anyone recommend some RAM please - DDR or DDR2? Would 1 or 2GB more RAM make much of a difference?

I would get a bigger monitor, You may as well do that before getting a 8800 so you can see all its greatness.

    Thanks for your replies.

I have between 300-500 to spend.

Yeah, I thought about getting a new monitor.
I would love to have 2 monitors connected.

Can anyone recommend an amazing monitor?

If you'd like to undercut your budget, be quick and get a 20.1" Dell 2007fpw from www.dell.co.uk for around £260 - offer ends on Jan 10th.

Don't buy the 8800gtx, it will get cpu bottlenecked.

i agree on a monitor the rest of your pc is still very high end. id say with that 15" you arent seeing the potential of the 7900

I also agree on a monitor. I'd look at the Dells as suggested. 20" or 24" widescreens are where it's at :D
There's also a few results on Bit, if you don't like the look of the Dells.
