ok another ghetto mod couldnt be arsed to get out my soldering iron to join in the new fan when i was exchanging my PSU fan so i just used masking tape to twist the wires together and shield, then i put the case back on and all is fine!!!
My ghetto mods have been, using string to hold up my CPU fan: Using rubberbands to attach a GPU heatsink: but most ghetto of all has to be my case fan powered hovercraft!
Speaking of Blu-tack, I had a sizeable blob on my hsf for a couple of months to dampen vibrations Worked like a charm too
I have a video of it I made before destroying it. Unfortunatley my webspace has stopped letting me transfer anything for more than about 4 seconds even though there is plenty of room for it. If anyone wants to host it I could email it to them.
Floppy ghetto mod Ph33r the ultimate mod. Although that hover craft / cpufan / heatsink... Thats a tough one to beat, but I'm proud of my mod. Thats a stealthed floppy drive. How? Velcro, my friend.
That's not ghetto that's creativity. I just used double sided sticky foam to do my strealth. oh and welcome to the best forums in the world
I totally did that like 2wks ago, my fan was loud as all hell, so i pulled it, put in a diff one, didn't think i had enough solder, so i wrapped, taped, and hoped, actually, i was pretty sure it would work, but you know, didn't want to toast my PSU. But last week, i did take it apart again, and soldered it up all fancy. But i also had to repair one of the connectors cuz the wires came out, (cheap and older). I may have to try to make a little fan powered hovercraft, just cuz....
The switch wouldn't fit from the AT PSU when I built my server (used an old case which i cleaned up a bit) so I soldered them together and covered them with electrical tape...does that count?
Hmm... my best would have to be making a MoBo tray+case sides from Duct tape in a s***ey P133 machine a while back. Easiest MoBo mount i've ever done . Then there was the Affroman-style RAM-sinks on my last GFX card, made from thermal-adhesive'd 1p's The Heatsink held by bluetack on a PII - 400 was the most fun (the trick is to make a tiny line all the way round the core...
oooooooo RAM-sinks made from thermal-adhesive'd 1p's, sounds like a great idea! Did it work well????? -cLoWn
