I am about to get the XBOX myself and would personally recomend it.

Although it hasn't got the best/most games, I'm drawn to it by its sheer connectivity with a PC.

The amount of mods that's possible is endless, so much so that I'm thinking about getting 2. One will be a for games which will be connected to my PC so I can play HALO multiplayer (playing it on gamespy is truely amazing, expecially as you can have upto 4 people on each box. Allows in total 16 players) and to transfer *cough* files *cough* via FTP.

The other one I'm going to totally mod to turn it into a DivX machine for my main telly. I won't go into too much detail but basically I'm thinking of putting it into one of those maplin alu boxes, powder coating it (a local place does it) and replacing all the controller ports with USB. Hopefully it'll .

Besides everyone is going to have to get the XBOX sooner or later because Fable is out soon. :D

Oh, technically it's the most powerful console, although what's on paper and what happens in reality is totally different.

But if you're after a machine just to play games on and don't mind buying games then I'd go with the GameCube.

Just remember, If you really wanna play games then its all about the PC, it 0wnz all consoles.

GC or PS2. Halo is coming out for the PC, so that knock's XBox's crown jewel off. Also, I've heard rumors that a XBox emulator will be released in the near future. If this is true, it is likely that games will run at full speed instead of being a generation behind due to XBox's similarity to a PC.

GameCube!! There are to many cool games  for example: Metroid Prime (this is NOT a fps game), Mario Sunshine, Godzilla :D, Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2, the new Zelda game, Pikmin, Resident Evil 0, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, etc

Granted some of them arnt out yet ;) but at least you have got something to look forward to on the Cube, unlike the xbox with has errrrrmmm Halo 2? lol :hehe:

Oh and the PS2 a bloody good console it took about 2 years for any good games to start coming out but there are some really quality games now.

IMO all three games machines are good. It basically depends what uses u want from it. If you got a good pc i wouldnt get an xbox , if you are into commercial games and want dvd playback then ps2 would be good, the game cube personally would be my choice as it not only has nintendos magic but also a good selection of commercial games.

Ive got a PS2 and a gamecube, both exelent consoles in there own right, (PS2 has Vice City and Gamecube has Mario) out of the 2 the PS2 is prolly the best to go for, theres a wider selection of games out for it, it will play DVDs, supports DTS sound and has a optical out port :D

I was looking through the paper and saw one of the current Xbox deals :

Even though I have just bought a Gamecube (love it to bits- £104 baby!)
If you were to ask me, I would say your best bet is the PS2.

I have all three of the machines and I tend to find myself playing the Xbox more than the cube or the ps2.
But as mentioned by other ppl each individual machine has its own individual merits (hence I bought all 3!) :p

    pros
ps2 = a lot of games, dvd player
xbox = better graphics then ps2(NEW)
cube = very nice graphics better then ps2 under my opinion

    cons
    ps2 = old
xbox = u have to pay for dvd player kit
cube = no dvd, cant pirate games :p

If want a wide variety of games then ps2 is for you.

if you want nice graphics but have to sacrafice some game variety then xbox is for you

if you dont care about a dvd player and not so many games then cube is for you

Also take to consideration that xbox and cube are both relatively new and many games will come out for both consoles. Ps2 is much older thus has many more games. So in a year or less xbox and cube will have many many games to choose from.

hehe that about sums it up if you just add the following line to the end: "and if you want all three, just go for a good old fashioned pc"... hehe

Actually not being a console person myself couldn't really say much, but the other day I was out at the store (yeah, me, out in public, weird sounding I know) anywayz, I say get GameCube.

    Why?

    Simple.

I saw SNK vs Capcom 2 for the Cube.

    BEST. GAME. EVAR.

the only games i would ever play on a console would be final fantasy and star wars space sims. But ff is on ps2 and nintendo do star wars. Its annoying.

I have a PS2 and I like it a lot simply because most people I know own PS2 so sharing games is easy. Loads and loads of games out for it and also I just love the look of it. However the GameCube is mightly tempting. There is nothing that tempts me to buy an X-Box at all.
