Ok, I would like to spray the interior of my case satin/matt black. I was just wondering what paint people have used in the past.

Should I prime the surfaces first?

I am thinking of getting a Cosmos S case and getting the interior done black. I don't know whether to get it done by a pro or try it myself!!

I really do not want it to look like crap though as I have never painted any thing since infant school so I will probs go pro route.

It may be worth finishing it with matt polyurethane varnish (spray can – matt or satin). This will protect the paint finish a lot better, and can be cleaned with a damp cloth without damaging the finish.

I was thinking of a bit of a rip out and internal case spray also .. and then rebuild with new bits ...

In the past I have rubbed down the varnish levels of paint .. used self etching primer and then a automotive type spray (aerosol) finished off with a few fine layers of lacquer to seal the deal.

I'm thinking about spraying my Cosmos S, but I need to decide on what car inspired colour scheme I want to do. Black is nice and all, but at the same time I am tempted to do something more unusual.

    :wallbash: Decisions! :wallbash:

Have a quick look in my sig at bulldogs box and how I sprayed the chassis. A scotch bright cloth is all thats needed to rough the case up and make sure it's cleaned and dust free before you start spraying.

Edit: just had a look I didn't go into to much detail about prepping etc.

Did you prime the surface before painting?

Yeah. Otherwise you'll just end up with the paint flaking off.

From what I've read, and seen, the Halfords range of Automotive sprays come out quite well.

Once primed and panited, is it wise to use something like a lacquer, or just leave the paint as is?

You don't have to but it helps to protect the finish. Also when you've finished painting if you've got the patience leave the whole lot some where warm and dry for 2 weeks to harden up. That way if you give it a knock it'll be able to take it.

Where are you going o be spraying, by that I mean shed/ garden?

I'll be spraying in the garden. I'm in no particular hurry and have another case that I can use temporarily while the paint sets

The reason I ask is the weather and temps can affect the finish, with matt paint you should be ok though.

Oh ok.....yeh I think it should be fine.

Entirely off topic, but just thought I'd mention, got my 2600k stable at 5.0Ghz with 1.4v on the Vcore. And that's with just an H50 cooling the chip. Been running prime95 for 4 hours now.
