And I say to you what I said elsewhere in the post and I say to anyone else: I'll vote the next time they don't win by a 50% MAJORITY, they don't even have to lose. When that happens, I'll vote and in the meantime you can point and laugh and teabag. Until then, you got nothing to say.

Selby and Ainsty: 2019 General Election: 60% Conservative, 24% Labour 2023 By-election: 46% Labour, 34% Conservative Somerton and Frome: 2019 General Election: 55% Conservative, 26% LibDem 2023 By-election: 54% LibDem, 26% Conservative Mid-Bedfordshire: 2019 General Election: 59% Conservative, 21% Labour 2023 By-election: 34% Labour, 31% Conservative Tamworth: 2019 General Election: 66% Conservative, 23% Labour 2023 By-election: 45% Labour, 40% Conservative Mid-Beds had been Conservative since 1931 - I think 90 years of Tory MPs counts as a "safe" seat. Overturning Tory safe seats does happen. If you don't want to support any of the other MPs because you don't like them, or don't want to support their or their party's political platform, then vote tactically: vote for whoever is most likely to oust the sitting Tory MP. There will be plenty of tactical voting information come election time, you don't even have to work it out on your own. I've been back and fore on my views about this over the years, but the more I think about it the more I'm of the opinion that turning up to vote is the absolute bare minimum. My seat has been in Labour hands since it was created 40 years ago, but I probably won't be voting for them in the next election. As I've done for the last couple of elections, I'll be voting on principle: either Plaid Cymru or whichever other party supports proportional representation (although there's a few I won't vote for because of ideological reasons: Tory, Brexit Party, UKIP, Green). My single vote for "Not Labour" is unlikely to make any difference to this seat, but I still don't consider that a "wasted" vote. Actually there's plenty to say on the subject - the fact that you don't want to listen, or don't care to listen, is no one's problem but yours.
If you want to change my mind, you're not going to achieve it by ranting, multi-quoting and talking about by-elections. Come back to me when my seat isn't won by 50%. I tell you what, I'll up the stakes: if the Tories win or draw my seat by 1 vote, my vote, I'll suck you off.
Oh there’s little chance of that, I’m not even trying. As I said if you want to disengage and be apathetic then that’s nobody’s problem but yours. It’s not my responsibility to convince you one way or another, and these days I’ve learned that there are far better ways to expend my energy. In fact the bulk of that post of that post wasn’t for your benefit at all - if it were, the quote from you would have been at the top of the post. And I don’t think anyone here is ranting except you.
I agree, it’s a small price to pay for living in a democracy. Come the next GE, if you don't like this government, exercise your democratic right and VOTE.
My mum isn't going to vote next time around but, to be fair, she voted for Brexit and is full of "we weren't told that would happen" regret so her not voting is probably a good thing.
Maybe you could encourage her to vote, as a penance for her part in voting for the biggest act of self harm in UK history Brexit. Just make sure she doesn't heed the words of the likes of Farage and the shaved ape.

Meanwhile Hunt 'possibly' intends to give tax breaks to the richest 4%-ish of the population. Also a reminder that Safe Seats rely heavily on apathy from the opposition, so go out and vote, you never know.
The only time I've not voted was when my mum was voting conservative and I was voting Labour but she wanted a lift to the polling station with me. So we agreed we'd both not vote then and save the trip. I did point out I thought she was a conservative votor and against hand outs so why should I give her a lift but she didn't take it well.
