Hi i have had an Acer aspire for just overa year now, but ever since we got it its been running slow.. its a sempron 2800 but runs slower than my athlon 2400 computer.. sure its only got 256 mb ram but i dont think thats the reason? anyway i dont know if its sposed to be that much slower [even when plugged in to the mains] or what its just really annoying sometimes though. any ideas appreciated thanks.
256Mb is your problem. No idea why you think it wouldn't be, especially if you're running XP. How many processes are running? ctrl+alt+del then click the process tab to find out (sorry if you know this already). My money is on the lack of RAM and a slow 2.5inch drive that needs defragging... plus a bloaty install with loads of spyware and crap that needs cleaning off.
