So I've got the hole cut in the side of my case, and I've got the plexi for the window, now my only dilemna is how to attach it. I've had several ideas, running from silicone caulking to padded double-sided tape, but I'm not quite sure. How have the rest of you attached your case windows?

First my window was riveted on but I didn't really like how that looked. So now I'm using a "molding" not sure if thats the right word but it's like a rubber gasket with a channel that holds the plexy. Just my opinion but this looks the cleanest and most professional...*looks for link*

ahh yes, here it is link.

Rubber molding is something you auto-get with window kits, but it might give you some difficulty installing the window. Others used silicon glue (for fish tanks), double sided tape etc. Good double sided tape can hold a lot (3 kg I thought?) so you don't have to be afraid that your plexi will fall off.

The rubber moulding (right spelling... ;)) gives it that finished look, and I have some "servo tape" (double-sided thin foam tape that is uber-sticky) that could actually hold it on... maybe some weather stripping & the tape... or silicone... hmmm...

It's a good thing I'm not afraid to experiment... ;)

Thanks for the tips... and any other suggestions are welcome!

For my window i used c-strip. It doesnt have that channel to hold plexi so i made the plexi bigger than the cutout and used velcro. I used velcro because i have a fan attached to the plexi not the case. So if i wanted to take off the fan it would make it easier.

Personally i dont like the rubber moulding. I Like to see a good clean cut.

If you dont want to see the fixing then use a good double sided tape, even duct tape the edges if you have t avaliable. If you want to see the fixing then some nice stainless or coloured annodized aluminium bolts from a motorcycle accessory place would look nice.

yeah, so far i've only ever done one moulded window. the rest i always just cut the window, put double-side foam tape around the opening, and lay on the acrylic. normal stuff works very well still, but the stuff i had was extra-strength, able to hold 7lbs of weight. no worries mate. :p
