Im using a BT 1055 voyager wireless adaptor that is rated at 802.11g, My BT Home Hub 2.0 is rated at 802.11n. The thing is my connecttion says its 54mbps. If I upgrade to a 802.11n wireless adpator that supports upto 300mbps, will my internet connection speed run faster? even though my download speed is 1.2mbs, will that increase or stay the same?
Your download speed will not increase as your internet bandwidth is the bottleneck, not your wireless speed. Having said that, a N router will increase reception and network speeds between computers.
According to this youtube clip, it shows the difference in download speed when switching from G to N wireless networks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUCUj2uqGtM
To put it a bit simpler: your wireless network speed is WAY faster than your internet connection speed, even with the 802.11g adapter. Nothing to gain there, sorry
