Last night I decided to take a look at the restrictions imposed on WMV DRM video and I purchased a $10 film from cinemanow.com. After downloading the video it successfully displayed on the computer. I looked at the video's properties and say it was far more restrictive than I imagined.

The video requires a license (which was expected). There is a restriction on the license that prevents it from being backed up (which was unexpected). The video could be copied to a portable media center a total of 2 times. In short, the video was only intended to be playable on one physical machine and if I ever switched machines or reinstalled windows then I loose all ability to watch the movie.

Has any one else ever used any online video stores? Do you know of any that have less rigid restrictions than this?
